Hi Families!!! Can you believe we've already been in school for ONE MONTH?! Seems like just yesterday our students came in as your little babies and now they are bigger and much more independent "big boys and girls" as they say. They are very aware of our routine and daily schedule and are very quick to tell us if we miss something. I love it!!! =)

This past week we spoke about the old folk tale, The Little Red Hen. The poor little red hen has to do all the house work and when she wants to bake some bread, no one wants to help her! This tale taught us about responsibility, sharing, being independent, caring for others, helping others and the value of hard work. In addition to the classic tale of The Little Red Hen, we also read The Little Red Hen makes a Pizza. The hen finished her bread and now wanted to eat some Pizza, but like in the original, no one wanted to help her. So we decided to help the little red hen and make some pizza's of our own. Finally, we read a story called Mañana, Iguana. In this story the characters want to have a fiesta, but Iguana ends up doing all of the work by herself, sounds familiar? Iguana and The Little Red Hen should become friends.

In Math, we continued sorting items by shape and our students have pretty much mastered sorting objects by color. This week we will continue sorting by shape, as some students are still trying to master this skill.
During science this week we stayed with the little red hen theme and explored what would happen when we mixed dish washing soap, hydrogen peroxide and YEAST into a plastic water bottle. The little red hen used yeast to make bread and we used it to make.... an eruption. Try it at home!
We were also supposed to have our pedestrian safety workshop this week but it was cancelled due to the rain, so we spoke about pedestrian and car safety in the classroom.

This week we are feeling the cool weather and are starting to explore the fall season.... we will begin with apples. On Thursday, the students will have their hearing screening as well. Talk to you soon
Hola familias!! Pueden creer que ya estamos en la escuela por UN MEZ!? Parece como ayer que nuestros estudiantes entraron como sus bebes y ahora están mas grande y mucho mas independiente, "niños grande" como dicen ellos. Ellos están bien consciente de la rutina y el horario, y nos dicen bien rápido y si se nos olvida algo. Me encanta!!! =)

Esta semana que paso hablamos del cuento popular La Gallinita Roja. La pobre gallinita tiene que hacer todo el trabajo de la casa y cuando quiere hacer pan, nadie la quiere ayudar. Este cuento nos enseño de la responsabilidad, como compartir, ser independiente, cuidar y ayudar a otros y el valor del trabajo. En adición al cuento popular también leímos La Gallinita Roja hace una Pizza, pero como en el otro cuento nadie la quiere ayudar. Entonces nosotros decidimos ayudarla y también hacer pizza. Finalmente, leímos el cuento Mañana, Iguana. Los personajes querían tener una fiesta, pero Iguana termino haciendo todo el trabajo sola, suena familiar? Iguana and La gallinita deben de hacer amigas.

En matemáticas, continuamos a emparejar por forma y muchos estudiantes ya han dominado emparejar objetos por color. Esta semana vamos a seguir emparejando por forma. Todavía tenemos que dominar esta destreza.
Durante la ciencia nosotros nos quedamos con el tema de la gallinita y exploramos que puede pasar cuando mezclamos jabón de fregar, peróxido de hidrogeno y levadura en una botella plástica. La gallinita uso levadura para hacer pan y nosotros para hacer... una erupción. Trátelo en la casa.
La semana pasada en taller de seguridad peatonal fue cancelado por la lluvia y entonces practicamos como ser seguro cuando caminamos en la calle y también cuando estamos en los carros.
Esta semana estamos sintiendo el tiempo fresco and vamos a empezar a explorar el otoño... empezamos con las manzanas. El Jueves los estudiantes van a tener la prueba de la audición. Hablamos pronto.
