Welcome to week three of school! We had a lot of fun this week talking about our body parts, what our bodies can do and how we can keep our bodies healthy and safe. We read a lot of books on our different body parts and how to keep our bodies safe and healthy. Our dramatic area was transformed into a doctors office and all students had opportunities to be a doctor, parent or receptionist. They had an opportunity to use body part vocabulary and also practice their writing skills at the office. We outlined one of the students bodies and labeled the body parts and we also did a ME collage where the students were able to decorate their bodies however they pleased, because we all are different and unique. In addition to discussing our bodies, in Math, we practiced matching items that are exactly the same and things that are the same by color. We also welcomed a new student and our class is now complete with 12 students 3 boys and 9 girls. Last but certainly not least, we celebrated Angelica's 4th birthday on Thursday.

This week we will be discussing our 5 senses Hearing, Sight, Taste, Smell and Touch. See you then!

Me Collage

Bienvenida a la tercera semana de la escuela. Disfrutamos mucho en esta semana hablando sobre las partes del cuerpo y como podemos mantener el cuerpo saludable y seguro. Leemos muchos libros de las partes diferente del cuerpo y también como mantener el cuerpo saludable. La area dramática fue convertida a una oficina de doctor y todo los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de hacer un doctor, padre o una recepcionista. Ellos practicaron el vocabulario de las partes del cuerpo y también practicaron las destrezas de la escritura. Nosotros delineamos un cuerpo de un estudiante y etiquetamos  las partes del cuerpo, también  hicimos un collage de nuestros cuerpos y los estudiantes lo decoraron como ellos quieran, porque todos somos diferentes y único. En addition al cuerpo, en matemáticas practicamos como emparejar objetos que son exactamente igual y objetos del mismo color. También le dimos la bienvenida a un estudiante nuevo, ahora nuestra clase esta completa con 12 niños, 3 niños y 9 niñas. Y últimos pero no menos celebramos el 4to cumpleaños de Angelica el jueves.

Esta semana vamos hablar de los cinco sentidos. La vista, el olfato, audición, gusto y tocar. Nos vemos entonces.

Hi, welcome to the second week of school. Whew it's been a long, eventful week we've been really busy working. This week we kept on with our all about me theme, this time we've been talking about feelings. We find that it is sometimes hard for children to express other feelings besides happy or sad and sometimes they can't even express that, they'll say I'm good or bad. We really put an emphasis on Happy, Sad, Angry, Upset, Surprised, Tired, Scared, Worried and Silly! We've also been reading one of my favorite book series Pete the Cat by Eric Litwin and James Dean. Pete the cat has many different books about different situations happening to him, but he always manages to stay Happy!! =) The children had so much fun reading, singing, counting and dancing with Pete the Cat this week. If possible visit your local library and see if you can find some of Pete the Cat's books, your children will definitely have fun reading the story to you. You can also go on Youtube.com and type in Pete the Cat, they have a lot of videos about him. But please remember to monitor what your child is watching on the internet.

In addition to Pete the Cat we read other books about different types of feelings, we did a  science experiment and we also participated in a cooking activity this week. We are also studying the letter P, number 1 and the color Green. Please continue to discuss feeling words, the letter P, number 1 and color green at home.

Hola, bienvenido a la segunda semana de la escuela. Uf! Ha sido una semana larga y bien memorable. Estuvimos muy ocupado trabajando duro. Esta semana nos quedamos con el tema de todo sobre yo pero nos enfocamos en los sentimientos. Encontramos que es difícil para los niños expresar sus emociones con el vocabulario apropiado, usualmente los niños solo dicen feliz o triste y aveces ni eso. Muchos niños dicen me siento bien o mal. Nosotras pusimos énfasis en las palabras Feliz, Triste, Enojado, Molesto, Sorprendido, Asustado, Preocupado y Gracioso. También estuvimos leyendo una serie de mis libros favoritos, Pete the Cat escrito por Eric Litwin y James Dean. Pete es un gato que pasa por muchas situaciones difícil, pero Pete siempre logra quedarse feliz! =) Los niños gozaron mucho leyendo, cantando, contando y bailando con Pete the Cat esta semana. Y si es posible visita la biblioteca y sacen libros de Pete the Cat, sus niños gozaran leyéndole estos cuentos. También pueden ir a Youtube.com y escribir Pete the Cat, hay muchos videos sobre el. Pero, recuerden a observar lo que sus niños están viendo en el internet.

Our first Morning Meeting / Nuestra Primera Reunion

Welcome to our blog! Last week was the first week of school and we had so much fun getting to know one another. We currently have 11 students in our class 2 boys and 9 girls!! We also have a mixture of 3 and 4 year olds. 

During the first week we danced, sang and learned each others names. We also reviewed the rules of our classroom and the routine we follow everyday. We learned how to wash our hands, set the table for breakfast and lunch, sit criss cross in the circle and play in our different centers. We also learned how to walk with our walking rope to the park and raise our hands when crossing the street. A lot of social emotional development happened last week and we're so proud of how independent our students are becoming.

Bienvenido a nuestro Blog! La ultima semana fue la primera semana de la escuela y gozamos mucho conociendo nuestros compañeros de la escuela. Por ahora tenemos 11 niños en nuestra clase, 2 niños y 9 niñas!! También tenemos una mezcla de niños de 3 y 4 años.

Durante la primera semana cantamos, bailamos y nos aprendimos los nombres de nuestro amigos. Revisamos las reglas del salon de clase y la rutina que seguimos todos los días. Aprendimos como nos lavamos las manos, como nos sentamos en la alfombra con las piernas cruzadas y como se juega en los diferentes centros de juego. También aprendimos como caminar con la soga de caminar y como levantar la mano cuando cruzamos la calle. Mucho desarrollo socio emotional también paso la semana pasada y estamos tan orgullosas de que independiente nuestros estudiantes se están convirtiendo.
